New Zealand v Australia Preview:

The 2nd of the five matches of the T20I bilateral series between New Zealand and Australia will be played on 25th February at the University Oval, Dunedin. The match is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM local time and 6:30 AM IST and it will be streamed live on Fan code.

When Devon Conway was growing up in Johannesburg, he saw his father, a football coach, as a passionate motorsport fan. Of late, the left-hander too has taken a liking to life in the fast lane.

He has 50-plus scores in each of his last five innings where he has made 402 runs at a strike rate of close to 150. If there was any disappointment for going unsold in IPL auction, the left-hander did well to tide over it with his unbeaten 99 against Australia and help the side cruise to a 53-run win.

Conway is just one of several problems Australia face. The visitors fielded a side with seven all-rounders in the opening game. New Zealand were 19 for 3 at one stage and managed to post 184. Did they miss frontline bowlers? Maybe. Australia then found themselves tottering at 19 for 4. Did the batting depth help? Not really. However, more than the bowlers, Australia will be sweating over their top-order batting.

Aaron Finch’s poor form, post the ODI series against India, has stretched more than the Australia limited-overs captain would have liked. Matthew Wade finds himself axed from the Test side and possibly out of the T20 side once David Warner returns. Josh Philippe made his debut and can expect a decent run before the premier players return. The batsmen face a test of adaptability and need to come to terms quickly with the conditions. If they fail to, the series will slip away pretty swiftly.

Pitch report & Weather report:

The weather is expected to be sunny in Dunedin with scattered clouds in the sky. The temperatures will be ranging between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius while the humidity levels will be at 73 percent. There is absolutely no chance of rain in this match.

The Dunedin pitch has never really hosted a T20I before this. With short boundaries on either side, we can expect that a score of 160 or 170 will be a par score. In addition to that, we can expect some movement of the pacers early on, something which we had seen in the first match as well.

The venue will be hosting its first T20I and the bowlers can expect another rough day. The scores in Super Smash ahead of this game have been 223, 170, 167, 168, 191 and 155 with two of those being won by the side batting first
