Sports Ticket: Delhi vs Rajasthan, 30th Match, Preview & Prediction
With clear demarcations emerging at the halfway stage of IPL 2020, Delhi Capitals (currently placed 2nd in the points table) should start as favourites against Rajasthan Royals (placed 7th). However recent form and personnel availability also give this contest a contrasting hue.
The Royals enter the game boosted by the return of Ben Stokes and a come-from-behind win over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the same venue. Where Stokes fits into the batting order will be of particular interest given that he opened in his first game back. But there are other options too for the Royals including getting Smith back at top, or look towards someone like Robin Uthappa to do the job there. But with their lower-middle order clicking, it allows for some experimentation and the outfit could only become better once the big guns at the top start finding the consistency that has been missing.
Capitals, sweating over fitness issues to a key player like Rishabh Pant and the loss to Mumbai Indians, have some questions that need answering. Without Pant, the Capitals are left with three similar players at the top – Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer – and could get found out if there is no late surge in the innings, like what happened against Mumbai. An alternative though could be to use Marcus Stoinis or Alex Carey a little higher-up to give some impetus. Either way, there’s some pondering to do within the camp if Pant remains unavailable. They’d want to guard against losing steam after getting off to a great start in the season.

Delhi Capitals won by 13 runs
It feels rather cool in Dubai today. We are looking at a pitch that is a lot drier than what we have seen in the last three weeks of the tournament. Little patches of grass, but don’t think they are gonna play too much of a role. The batsmen need to be a little bit careful. We saw a delivery from Sandeep Sharma last night which extracted a puff of dust and looks like this is a new ball wicket.
